the smoking fish (I)

I found myself waking up in a different place than my room and my comfy bed, I was in a totally strange new town, where the air felt lighter, and the sky was more purple than blue, a strange hand helps me stand up, and with a grin on his face says to me "Daniel, such a pleasure to finally see you around here". I've finally started coming to my senses and realized that wasn't my hometown, no even my home planet (but it was astonishingly similar) I was able to see three moons on the horizon and when I turned my back an extraordinary city was laying upon my eyes, buildings really tall and big, but not all of them where rectangular, some had really weird shapes like irregular heptagons, and just a moment later after I finished up looking at the tall buildings and lowered my view I could see that the strange man that greeted me, was the only man around there. No, we weren't in a desert, we were surrounded by a bunch of aliens, lots of them of multiple different kinds. Still flabbergasted about waking up millions of light years away and without my cell phone, the strange man tells me to follow him, he starts walking a few meters and then out of his shoes a flash of light appears and he starts flying upwards, he's silhouette started slowly to become a little dot and at the moment when he was going to disappear out of my sight I can see how he starts to fly again down towards me. Back on the ground again face to face in front on me he says "Oh silly me, I forgot that this is your first time here, so probably you didn't bring your pair of astroboots with you, am I right?, here take these ones" he extends his hand an on his palm there's a small red plastic the size of a coin, I looked at him rarefied, before a word can come out of my mouth the strange man says "Come on kid, maybe you don't like red but these astroboots are as good as new" he throws the coin to the floor and tells me to step my right feet on it, as soon as I do that, a red kind of metallic boot starts to generate from the sole of my sneakers up to my knee, "Now hit your right heel with your left one" I obbey that instruction and automatically my other leg has an identical boot "See Dani, you don't have to be so nitpicky these astroboots we'll do just fine by the moment". Now follow me we're in a hurry, and the guy again runs for a few meters and it's up there flying through that purple sky, these time it doesn't seem to be he'll be back to pick me up again if I don't follow him, so in a moment of foolishness I start running a few meters and them jump, just to fall down face first on the ground, I get up to try again but this time I remember he hit again his heels just before started flying, I imitate this and for a moment I see how my face is never going to be the same when I get on the ground for the second time but as my panic started soaring and I was waving goodbye my career as a model something extraordinary happens I start to fly up to the infinity and beyond how buzz lightyear used to say, a few moments later I see again the strange man just above me. He points at me to the front of us, we start flying to that direction and a building similar to Seattle's space needle can be seen floating in mid-air, we get to the ground surrounding the building and them stood in form of one of the multiple entrances of the shiny building, "International Committee for the arts and historic preservation" says a sign on top of the sliding doors I'm about to cross. Everything inside is so shiny and there are lots of aliens just walking around like in a hurry, it's kind of like an office building, just that out of nowhere doors appear and disappear and when any alien crosses any door, they don't come out of the other side, I see the strange guy standing there just waiting and I stand right next to him a few moments later a door appears in front of us, the guy opens it and to my surprise what I see through the other side was just the same I was seeing moments before, the door seemed to be just a frame to me, nothing special then the strange man crosses it and vanishes, with my jaw starting to drop to the floor, I do the same and as soon as one of my foot steps in the door I feel like if my body was desintegrating I want to step my feet back but an inmense force drags me into for a second I feel like if I was just dust in an empty white void but immediately I emerge in what it seemed to be like a very fancy conference room. The strange man then says "Hey team this is Dani, finally we have the pleasure to have him here to help us with our missions, Dani, I'll later introduce you to the whole team", seven aliens of all of them very different from each other were sitting looking at me (at least the ones who had something resembling eyes did), a kind of half reptilian half man alien that was the only one standing and all across the room invites me to take a say and proceeds to say "Welcome Dani, it's a pleassure to have you as part of squad OASIS1729, as I was telling the others before you arrived, we have a critical mission for this lunar cycle of the ganymedes II" a hologram flashes right in the middle of the table we're sitting around and a framed picture of an alien very similar to the one who was explaining the mission appears, the half reptilian/half man alien continues talking and says "we have coordenates of a possible hideout of the thieves and a stolen picture  where could be at, our mission is to recover the picture in the most subtle way, avoiding as much as we can any casualties of disturbances" right on the bottom of the frame I can see a plaque with I'd like to guess its the name of the picture: Smoking fish.
